  • Abstract

A 73‑year‑old female came with severe chronic pain in the head and face region due to post‑herpetic neuralgia. The areas involved were pre‑ and post‑auricular region, occipital, temporal region of the scalp and mandibular region of the face, suggesting C2 and C3 nerves and mandibular branch of trigeminal nerve involvement. We managed the patient by optimising pharmacotherapy, followed by four sessions of dry needling. Pain reduction was very satisfactory after each session of dry needling without any major side effect, thus highlighting the effect of dry needling in the management of post‑herpetic neuralgia in the head and face region.
